What Would You Do With $10,000?

J.D. over at Get Rich Slowly recently posted a question and answer session asking what would you do if you came into $10,000?

I said that I would put it into fixing up my house. Some of you may remember that I have a derelict, long condemned house next door to me that I have been fighting with the city to get torn down for years. The Head Building Inspector just said that they were going to start tearing it down probably in about a week.

I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but after a few years of this house literally threatening my house, I finally wrote to the City Attorney and told him that I was seriously considering selling my house, then suing the city and the bank that owned the house to recoup the loss in value to my house. Isn't it strange how fast things can happen when you threaten to sue someone, and they know you have a case?

Now, if Hurricane Ike can just stay away from us, so that the two rotten trees from that yard don't come crashing down on my house in the meantime, we'll have it made!

I truly wish that I had the money to buy that lot after it's cleared. It would be pretty cheap, as the city isn't allowed to recoup anymore than what it's put into it, but alas, I have no money, so I can't.

Hey, at least I won't have to stare at that eyesore anymore! Happy, happy day!
